Swamijis visit of the Hospital!

His Holiness Swami Maheshwaranada made a short visit in India to celebrate the Mahasamadhi of Sri Mahaprabhuji in Bari Khatu. He came also to Jadan and on the full moon day, 1st Dec 09 he visited the dental department for first time. This was a historical moment for the hospital, because for the first time doctors were treating and curing patients. Swamiji opened the dental clinic and gave his blessings the whole Hospital. As he is the initiator of the Hospital project, he was very happy to see the progress and the idea coming to life.

Eye camp was the first!

On Saturday, 28. 11. 09 the Goyal Eye Hospital under the guidance of Dr. G. K. Goyal, from Pali, organized the first eye camp at the Sri Swami Madhavanada Austria hospital which was for free! Dr. G. K. Goyal and his team examined about 400 patients. The camp was a great success!! In the same night Dr. Goyal operated 30 patients and gave all treatments and medicines for free as well. We are very grateful for all his help and generosity - as he gave time, knowledge and treatment to rural people.

GREAT NEWS - we started!!!

On Wednesday, the 18th November 2009, the SRI SWAMI MADHAVANANDA AUSTRIA HOSPITAL started to work!

Opening ceremony was done by Swami Phul Puri at 9h AM with blessings of Swamiji.

Our first department is a dental department with two modern chairs and equipment under the guidance of Dr. Abhishek Dadhich, BDS. Dr. Shanti Puri made the teeth examination of our first patient Ms Santosha, a 12 year old girl from Jadan school. After her we examined 500 kids in only 3 week time.

Our next program is now to check all 1200 schoolchildren about their oral health condition.

Raksha Bandha and medical care

On full moon day we had the celebration of Raksha Bhanda, celebration of sister and brother bond, a big festival day. It was new for me that this event has something to do with medical treatment! In the epic story of Mahabharata, Draupadi is a devotee of Lord Krshna and wife of the 5 Pandavas. It happened in the war that Krshna was injured and Draupadi, full of love, tore a strip of silk off and tied it around Krshnas wrist to stop the flow of blood. Krshna was so touched by her action that he found himself bound by love to her. Since this time the festival is celebrated and rakhis are tied between chosen siblings . It is through care, love and compassion that brothers and sisters of the human family are united specially on this day.

- Many little drops fill the mighty ocean -

Story:In the evening all the children from the hostel are coming to the Satsang. They have discovered that I know Dentistry. So if a child has a loose milk tooth, they come to me and without any instrument, in the dark, I pull the tooth quickly out. Then they run away, very happy…

It also happened to me, that 4 weeks ago I got a big burn wound on my thigh. Unfortunately we didn’t have sterile compresses and bandages and therefore, the wound got infected. It has taken more then 4 painful weeks to heal.
So these are just a few of the examples of our daily life here! All of us and also our children are eagerly waiting for the hospital to soon provide medical support. Nobody knows who will be the next to need and benefit from medical help!

The good news: One lady Dentist from Slovakia, Dr. Savitri, will come to India in April and she will purchase and donate some Dentistry equipment which is needed for the hospital. We are very thankful to her for this generous and important donation and the personal care she is providing.

Ashram news:
The heat is increasing and we have to try to do our jobs as early in the morning as possible,
because lunchtime temperatures are increasing up to 46 degrees.

Hundreds of neem trees, which we know for their bitter leaves and medicinal properties, are blossoming. Due to this a sweet fragrance lies over the Ashram. This sweet and intoxicating smell leads us to plunge into the sweetness of our hearts and reminds us that we should also always search for the sweetness in our daily life.

We get kilos and kilos of fresh carrots coming from our garden and the kitchen team is preparing all kind of delicious carrot variations for eating. There are also lots of other fresh salad and vegetables - that’s why all Karma Yogis are very healthy and happy!

The lucerne grass (hindi: rajga) is ready to be cut and the cows are happy to be given such delicious food.

Also our squirrels are happy to eat the food set out for the birds, who are very astonished about this….. greediness is everywhere...

I hope you like our first post of the jadanhospital blog. Don´t hesitate to give us your suggestions!

with love
